this ancestral bones - title of the second release of the berlin-based label ownlife. it features two original tracks of leiras and a remix by one of the key-names in the electronic music-scene, the multifaceted peter van hoesen.

complex adaptive systems are able to adapte and change themselves based on experience. that is dynamic systems with self-organization which gave rise to global behavior called emerging, that cannot be explained by a single physics law. adaptation is reached through the costant redefinition of the connection between system and its environment.

at its very first start, the new label founded by conrad van orton proposes a vinyl of his own with two original tracks on the a side, november and captivity archives. and two great remixers such as vsk and the mysterious annuled user on the other. just as the needle starts to mark the passage, the classic four quarters give life to a beat that between one step and another compresses catapulting reality in a classic industrial scenario of mid-autumn where the clear sky gets marked by black and deep plots. a background noise accompanies the whole programming part of the drumming that gives off a relentless pace. on the a side captivity archives reconfirms the industrial nature of cvo with a look towards distant galaxies ..... with the needle still hot we turn around the record to the b side. here we find the vsk remix with a more ambient and crystal clear sound. to the original drum, vsk, choose an equally technical percussion. all home made. last but not least the contribution given by annulled user. trademark? techno! .. and there is nothing here to mess about with. 4/4 dry, hard which feel anger and rebellion desire. the kick, fairly present, is ripped apart by some demonic filters. the 5.30 min of annulled user are a reminiscence of the 90s.

experimenting with analog synthesizers and obscure percussion instruments helped kyson create the melancholic atmosphere of >the waters way<, the title of his new lp and first with friends of friends music a reflection of his time living in the long and harsh european winter. the new kyson live show, debuting this fall, is energetic as well as intricate. the three-piece setup incorporates live drums, analog synthesizers, vocals and samplers. accompanied by scott van manen (drums, samplers) and sam rogers (keys, vocals).

the >baumgartner< release marks the third solo ep by van bonn after his >maserung/schwerpunkt< and >onwards< on telrae in 2012. so it was high time for another solo release with him. his new track is again a timeless classic, gracefully flowing without much of an interruption, it is his most melodic release up until now. the track is nevertheless very much detached in style from what van bonn has released solo and together with stefan gubatz on telrae. the track is at ease and at the same time connects to a feeling of melancholy. marko fürstenberg wrote the remix on the flip side transforming the original into a tight and bass heavy dub track. marko breaks with the flow of the original and creates a much more rigorous dance flloor rocker that introduces one element after the other. this is not for the weak and for bass lovers only!

for telrae 010 stefan gubatz teamed up with van bonn. the a side track marathon reflects on the more up-tempo beat tracks on telrae. it starts where stefans transistor ended, keeps a tight beat but its crunchy chords erupt like lava in a bowl of milk. the flipside track burnout works with a heavy pounding bassline but is defined by a rather airy, ambient like soundscape with many modulations and a broken tricky beat..

van bonn returns after his release maserung on telrae in april 2011. van bonn has been in the studio a lot since then and has worked on a number of tracks that are highlighted here. onwards i is an excursion into sound. it starts with sounds that interact in a subtle way but then as if by magic, suddenly it rises to a much higher energy level, almost pulling you by the hair. chords now kick in with the full force of brutality, like the strikes of london’s big ben and then you’d think the track will just burst. van bonn makes another turn before he lets the drums break loose. it seems as if van bonn is taming the brutality and direction of his electronic machines. abstract now meets the concrete and whoever wins the fight is up to the listener to decide. the first remix comes by raffaele attanasio who has had considerable success with der pianist and i m a jazzman and has collaborated with trapez ltd artist mihalis safras, a. trebor (trapez), as well as claude young, nic fanciulli and has shown his versatility throughout the last 3 years. juan atkins recently featured raffaele attanasio remix of no mans land by a. trebor in his charts.his remix for van bonn keeps up a strong beat programming right from the beginning. a beat monster so to speak is alive from the beginning and kicking. the track is written in a style that shows expansion and contraction and through that shows an organic breathing quality.
